So all of us using VMWare Workstation and trying to run Vista as a guest, what can we do? Are we limited to use Vista without sound? Is there any special driver in VMWare site? (I couldn't find any). After a long period there was a blue screen stating that there was a problem with the file sbpci.sys Trying again in Windows 2000 compatibility mode didn't help.Īs far as I know Creative doesn't support such an old model, so there will not be a Vista driver for that. I downloaded Windows XP drivers for Ensoniq ES1371 and tried to install them in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. As a result network was installed successfully but the problem with audio remained. I uninstalled VMWare utilities on the guest and reinstalled them. Thankfully the Vista virtual machine opened and updated without any issue and I was able to start it. I then downloaded from your site VMWare Wordkstation 5.5.1 I unistalled version 4 and installed version 5. I wasn't able to install either a Windows 2000 or a Windows XP driver, even in compatibility mode. Everything was fine except for network and audio. I recently decided to create a new machine and install Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit (final version) for testing. Hello! I had VMWare Workstation 4 for some time and it worked preferctly for pre-Vista Windows versions.
